FB fashion nights | The Woodlands, TX photographer

With tonight being my last night with the ladies in my Marketing Bootcamp Class, I thought it would be fun to post on an event that I recently did.

Langford Market, The Woodlands TX. The cutest boutique ever. I refer several of my clients there because their clothes are made to photograph. We had so many girls show up for our fist ever Facebook Fashion Night. It was an awesome event and we all had so much fun!

The girls were amazing. Every single one of them were just as beautiful and sweet as could be. Love networking my business with other small businesses.

ummm. words…adorable. cute. BOY. Loved my session with the cutie Spencer, boys are so fun!

also WINNER of the contes is coming TOMORROW! whoo hoo. thanks to all of you who participated!

AND… I am exactly half way through our month of Marketing Bootcamp! I am seriously over the top excited at how this class is turning out… first off, I KNOW I have info to share but always question if it REALLY helps. And you just never know the dynamic of a group of 13 girls an dI could have NEVER dreamed I’d get such a great group of ladies. We laugh and laugh and have developed a great friendship, trust and support system in each other! I love that!!! Here is what a few are saying so far…

*Spanki, the last 2 weeks have been UH-MAZ-ing! I feel like I’ve been in eat-sleep-breathe-marketing mode. Your bootcamp is the best investment I’ve made for my business, ev-er. I know we’re only half way through, but it’s very clear to me that this class is taking my photography business to the next level. You’ve been so incredibly candid with us, sharing tips, tricks and inside info…I just can’t thank you enough.*

*I woke up feeling so blessed to be apart of your marketing bootcamp! (I see all the other women are feeling the same…haha) But, truly, you are incredibly wise to this industry and I just wanted to thank you for being so open and sharing some of your other photography secrets with us, even though it has nothing to do with marketing;)I’m learning so much about how to set myself apart in the industry and I feel like I’m headed in the right direction to owning a successful business. *

*Spanki!! The course has made my business turn on it’s ear!! In the last two weeks I have booked 11 sessions just from implementing the ideas from the course!! I can’t wait to continue taking workshops with you!! Big ((hug))*

*Another great night at Spanki Mills Bootcamp!!! I am SO glad that I invested the time and money into this! Each and every night leaves me more excited and full of energy than the last. I am SO gonna need some caffeine tomorrow!*

*I never thought I’d be saying this, but my weekends are becoming miserably long! Can’t wait for it to be Tueday again so we can get back to bootcamp. *

*OMG OMG OMG, just got off the phone and I booked my first EV-ER Senior session with my big new booking fee of $X.xx! I might seriously pee my pants right now. Never in a million years did I think I’d be charging this…let alone people actually paying it!! Eeeeek!! Spanki, I could kiss you right now!*

LOVE IT!!!

be nice.

I walked past my computer this afternoon and like normal my FB was open to my home page… a photographer I admired the work of had posted about how someone wrongfully called her out about “stealing/copying”. I read it, and kept going on about my day and something came over me, I was hurt even a little angered by someone I didn’t even know. I thought “what will it hurt” I went to my FB and IM’d Julie, the fellow photographer I had never met. I introduced myself and explained to her I too have been where she was, but just being hurt for no reason. I told her how strongly I feel about people spending more time worried about what someone else is doing and not about themselves.

I have been wronged. I do not hold a grudge, I just don’t EVER want to make anyone feel the way I have felt. Maybe the person who was mean to me has remorse for how they acted and just don’t have the nerve to apologize. Maybe they don’t care and given the chance, they’d do it the same way over again. It doesn’t matter. It is about me taking from MY experiences and making a difference in how I treat others.

To my surprise, she messaged me back. And a friendship was made. Julie Paisley Photography and Spanki Mills Photography may only reach a few people but together, we might reach that ONE who needed to know it is NOT okay to be mean to others to make yourself feel better. This is NO race. It is NOT a competition. You are an ARTIST, no one can or ever will be YOU…and it is okay to be YOU. So join us. BE NICE.

Shelbie. Behind the scenes.

What goes into a session? To get the most out of your session, and it IS your SENIOR session…so why wouldn’t you want to get the MOST out of it? We go over clothing, location, hair and makeup! It is very detailed and the finished product SHOWS IT! I decided to post a few images of the “behind the scenes” so you can see what all goes into it and how great it all turns out!  A big thanks to Anna with Salons on the Lake for amazing hair and makeup. And a HUGE thanks to Amie Reinholz Photography for the pull back shots! and SHELBI, our beautiful model! It was a FUN, FUN, FUN day!!!!

Shane. Hold the Phone. the woodlands, tx photographer

My friend Shane. So fun to finally have a boy/male (I say boy, but I am so sure he’d rather be called something else) session. We had a fun time…the cool thing is, Shane is a photography major at Baylor so he “got” it and we had TONS to chat about. You know…in between getting asked for money, or to use our phones, or dealing with the smells. Ha. I sooo think I might quit on the urban areas and go for CLEAN, SAFE, fields! Thanks Shane for a great afternoon, I wish you the BEST and I know you have a HUGE future ahead of you.

time to invest in YOU. I’m gonna.

Okay friends, we are almost to a new year…so what does that mean? It means it is time to start thinking about what you are going to do for YOUR business this next year. We have all been so busy with the holiday rush but just around the corner it is time for a breath of fresh air… slow air… time for us to reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what we want to explore new this coming year. Well one of my “New Years” goals is to become an active member on a few forums. I am such the social butterfly, I feel like I am missing out by not finding time to get involved. So one of the first forums I am going to dive into is Rock the Shot Forum.

Rock the Shot is a fun and friendly community of photography enthusiasts, ranging from moms wanting to take better pictures of their kids, to seasoned professionals willing to teach you all the tips and tricks of the trade.  And I happen to be a “mentor” there!:)
  • Have you ever wanted feedback on your images?  Rock the Shot members and Mentors are there to offer critique.
